On 20 August 2010, Chitageolsyomka Open Joint-Stock Company was established on the basis of the Chitageolsyomka Federal State Unitary Geological Enterprise, a successor to the Geological Survey Expedition (the first name of which was Topographic and Geodetic Expedition) formed in 1950 as part of the Chita Geological Administration.

Currently, Chitageolsyomka is the only company in the Zabaykalsky Region that carries out regional geological surveys and the only publisher of almost all geological and cartographic materials of the federal value. Over the last 10–15 years, the specialists at the enterprise prepared 30 sets of maps for the second-generation Gosgeolkarty-200 and three sheets for the third-generation Gosgeolkarty-1,000. It also drawn up a map of gold occurrences in the Zabaikalsky Region (1:500,000 scale), a map of location trends and forecasting of base and rare metal deposits (1:750,000 scale), and a map of Cenozoic deposits in the region (1:1,000,000 scale). Together with the Institute of Rare Element Mineralogy, Geochemistry, and Crystal Chemistry, the company developed a forecast and geochemical map of the Chita Region to a scale of 1:1,000,000.

The specialists at Chitageolsyomka discovered numerous fields and deposits, including the deposits of Zhirekenskoye (molybdenum), Bom-Gorkhonskoye, Moklakanskoye, and Kagdagachinskoye (wolfram), Sulumatskoye (iron), Torginskoye (copper), Krasnochikoiskoye (coal), Larginskoye (magnesite), Beryozovskoye (uranium), Shivyrtuiskoye (zeolite), Shabartuiskoye, Khilinskoye, Ulan-Odonskoye, and Razdolninskoye (keramzite clay), Vershina Bakhtarnaka (hard-rock gold), the Bukhtinskaya and Berezovskaya group of gold placers, the Ary-Bulakskaya alluvial cassiterite deposit, and many other deposits of nonmetallic minerals and prospective areas with the resources of category P3.
